Joseph Chevalier
Born and raised in Burgundy, France, Mr.
Chevalier received his Bachelor's degree in Business from the St.
Etienne Business School in 1973. He received his MBA from Chicago's
Depaul University in 1975. Subsequently, He joined the French Trade
Commission in Chicago as its Commercial Officer.
In 1977, Mr. Chevalier joined the International Department of Central
National Bank in Chicago. Over the next 21 years, he advanced with that
institution as it merged in 1982 with Exchange National Bank and in 1990
with LaSalle National Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of ABN-Amro Bank.
As Manager of the International division, he engineered and oversaw the
growth of the bank's international trade market share in chicago from
less than 4% to over 33% in 1997, giving the bank the #1 position in the
city.
In April 1999, six months after joining First American Bank, the bank’s
new international division started live operations. Mr. Chevalier is
taking his management expertise in innovative directions. As an
experienced international banking professional, he recognizes a kindred
spirit in First American's historic private ownership and distinction
for quality service. With an entrepreneurial vision, he has joined his
special knowledge of international banking with First American's
commitment to extend its superior services globally.
In October 2000, Mr. Chevalier launched a unique trade finance product
called confirmed purchase orders, which greatly enhance the payment
assurance and process in trade transactions.
